The whole gang The morning the Hardings flew back to Utah we headed out to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach to meet up with Tanners. Ayrowyn and Julie were in town and the clan was heading to the beach to explore the tide pools with Miss Mila. None of us had ever been there before and while it was disappointing to see so few star fish, we saw plenty of sea cucumbers and anomenes and lots of harbor seals hanging out on the reefs furthest from the shore. During the time we were there the weather went from cloudy and a bit window to sunny and warm. It was beautiful. From what we hear, the pleasant conditions that day were a rare treat. We wished we had been prepared for a picnic!Happy BIrthday to Lee
Instead we loaded up and drove down the road to The Barn in Half Moon Bay for shakes and "brookies" for the birthday boy. We didn't have enough time to get a late lunch there but decided we definitely need to in the future. The Barn was in a great setting and the outdoor seating area was really cute and comfortable. The food looked amazing too. But, we did have rich and gooey brookies (brownie/chocolate chip cookies) and sang to Lee before we all had to go our separate ways.
When the Tanners headed home, we headed down to Sunnyvale. I had arranged a surprise appointment at a warehouse piano sale for Lee's birthday. He didn't know where we were going until we walked in and he saw the sign. Knowing Lee and his preference to research things for weeks before making a purchase, I knew that the 60 minutes we had at the warehouse to consider and purchase a piano was a stretch. It was either going to be a success or a bust. Lucky for us it was a success! We left at 6:20pm having purchased a piano that was delivered the very next day! (they really wanted their warehouse emptied). We love the color, the feel and as soon as we get it tuned in a few weeks we're going to love the sound. Until then, we cringe! It's so nice having a piano - especially now that Lee is playing the organ again at church and needs the extra practice time.
Lee's actual birthday was on a Monday and we met for lunch and had planned for a delicious Brazilian rodizio grill but I dropped the ball on the reservation and we ended up having his birthday dinner at the Peninsula Creamery for the second year in a row. Good thing Lee loves hamburgers! We'll have to make sure we get to the rodizio grill another time.
Pictures from that great day are here.
