Settling In - FINALLY (October 6)

The last six months have passed in an unbelievable hurry.  I can't believe it has been six months since Lee and I spent the weekend packing, cleaning up and moving me out of my fabulous apartment on Williams Street. We moved Lee out of his place just six weeks later. One would think that four + months would be adequate time to fully move in.  You know - unpack the boxes, hook up the stereo/tv/cable/speakers/computer combination (I'm worried that once it is set up I won't know how to even turn it on), hang a few pictures, arrange the office....   Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case for us.  Maybe it's because we've done nothing but celebrate (and plan) all summer....  But, now that summer is over, our events have all gone wonderfully, and we're here to stay for a bit.... we're finally starting to settle in to our apartment and married life!

The last week or so has brought:

  1. A delicious four-course meal with a couple families from our ward (we were clearly the guests as we don't know how to serve a four-course meal)
  2. An enrichment activity where I actually met women in our new ward
  3. Attended the Stanford convocation (let me digress by saying what an incredibly beautiful evening this is every fall. I love any event in Stanford's Memorial Chapel where I can listen to the organ and choirs sing.  The speakers were exceptional.  AND it was awfully fun to go this year as one of the "marrieds")
  4. Visited IKEA (TWICE) and assembled our purchases in efforts of de-cluttering the office
  5. Consistent exercise as we start our "training for Patagonia" program
  6. Organized the office and got rid of all sorts of boxes!
  7. Dinner with friends we haven't seen in ages at Mochica, a tasty (and somewhat spicy) Peruvian restaurant in the city.  Followed by San Francisco's best ice cream, which of course is found at Mitchell's. I was actually able to deviate from my favorite flavor (Grasshopper Pie) knowing Lee can recreate that one for me.   The result?  I fell in love with Peanut Butter Indulgence and their Toasted Almond. We've now got two more new flavors for Lee to experiment with!

I almost feel like we're on vacation there is so much more time in our days to enjoy the everyday parts of life.  It's been wonderful.  And now that we're home, we hope to see more of everyone.
