Last Thursday (November 13) was pretty terrific.  It started off with a visit to Santa Clara University to attend the morning portion of their Transformative Changes Through Science and Technology: The Role for Social Benefit Entrepreneurs event.   Muhammad Yunus (2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate) was the keynote speaker.  I've had the fortune of hearing Muhammad Yunus speak a couple of times and am always impressed.  He is a fabulous speaker and really inspires his audience.  He's made an incredible impact in Bangladesh and the micro finance world in general.

We had to put in a few hours of work that afternoon before heading up to the city for dinner and a concert.  After 3 long years, Ben Folds finally returned to San Francisco. The old school gang gathered together to hear Ben at the Warfield.   We kicked it all off with dinner at Tu Lon.  A Vietnamese restaurant in the Tenderloin, just a block away from the Warfield.  It's a bit of a dive, but as promised by Laura & Rob, was pretty great food.

This was my fourth or fifth time seeing Ben Folds in concert and Lee's first.  He is by far my favorite.... What he can do with a grand piano is unbelievable.  There were a couple differences between this concert and the ones I've seen before.  The first -- well, he now has a band.  It's no longer just Ben and the Grand.  To be honest, I missed it.... I'm sorry Lee didn't get to fully appreciate just Ben.   The other difference -- which was pretty darn great -- was how clean his show was.  He's never used so few explicitives.  We all walked out wondering what had happened... (not that we were complaining).  Hopefully it doesn't take another 3 years for him to come back!
