Lani's work has brought her to San Francisco once a month or so for the last 6 - 8 months. It's been really fun to see so much of her. This last week was her last trip and she decided to stay through the weekend and fly out Kyle (who within the last 10 days became Dr. Pfaffenbach) to join us. We had a lot of fun and were so happy to have them.

We kicked off the weekend with a stroll/skate through Aquatic Park and then met up with Joy and Collin for a tasty and authentic Turkish dinner at Alaturka on Friday night. We then moved on to chill at a fun little bar on Polk Street just around the corner before heading back to Menlo Park. Although it was midnight or so at that point, we weren't ready to call it a night just yet. We wanted Lani and Kyle to see a few of our favorite pictures from Patagonia. Kyle was the best audience - he was super enthusiastic and requested to see more pictures than we had planned to subject them to. Plus, it was fun to go through them with Lani with her having traveled there and all...
Saturday morning was SLOW. We couldn't bring ourselves to get up and at 'em. Our initial plans of hitting the dish and being to the city by 1pm were completely thrown out of whack. We didn't m
ake it to the dish for our trot until nearly noon. And at 2:30pm after we had picked up JJ's sandwiches and were on our way out the door to meet Joy and Collin - we really turned things upside down and decided to stay in Menlo Park. We watched the Final Four and Joy and Collin came down instead. Lee made the most incredible grilled tenderloin with pesto that Collin and Kyle couldn't stop talking about. I must say, Lee's grilling skills have really improved! Of course we got in some Doms and played a little SGG (Something's Gotta Give). But the surprising activity of the night that kept us up until 3AM was our new found interest in Curling. Yes, you read that right. Kyle introduced us to the Universal Sports channel that plays Olympic sports around the clock. And at midnight - Curling is what is scheduled. Funny enough we all actually got into it and are happy to report T
eam McCormick is heading to Vancouver to represent the US. :)
Sunday morning we made sure we moved a little faster and we all headed up to Mama's for breakfast. The line was long (as expected) but we underestimated just HOW long. It was nearly 2 hours from the time we got in line until the time we got our food. I think the wait was worth it - it was a first for Kyle and Lee and no one makes a better Buttermilk Pancake or omlette. From Mama's we went to the De Young Museum to see the Andy Warhol exhibit. It was pretty cool. Lee and I bought a membership and
are looking forward to making use of it.
Before we had to send Lani and Kyle back to Colorado we picked up some fantastic burritos at Gordos and ate them at Ocean Beach. It was the perfect way to wrap up the weekend. We had a great weekend with all the family and are really hoping Kyle's post-doc position will bring them closer to the Bay Area!
