I think birthdays need to be celebrated with gusto and last year with the wedding chaos, I just didn't do Lee's birthday justice.  Since he was going to be down in LA a couple of days before his birthday (May 16), I decided it was the perfect opportunity to throw him a surprise party.  Flights from LA generally run on time, right?

Friday night many of our fabulous friends gathered at our apartment for the first BBQ of the season and other tasty foods!  We were eagerly awaiting his arrival at the initial time of 7:30pm.  7:30pm came and went.... our hunger dictated that we start up the BBQ anyway and get to the food.  We had just loaded up the burgers when he walked through the door at 9pm.  COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY SURPRISED!  I tend to think surprises don't often work -- but this one did!  Thanks to our many friends who stuck out Lee's long awaited arrival.   We had a great time.

Saturday the celebrating continued (seeing how it was his REAL birthday).  I made him a waffle breakfast in bed and then we slowly made our way over to Half Moon Bay to enjoy the beach.  The temperatures were PERFECT.  We could actually wear swimsuits and not be cold (or hot)!  It was such a wonderfully relaxing and beautiful day.  We wrapped it up with Lee's favorite type of meal - STEAK!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEE!!!
