My sisters coordinated a weekend when they could both come to visit, see our house and HELP.  This last weekend (September 10 - 12) was that weekend.  Lani flew in from LA Friday evening and Abbie rolled in around 3am after driving from Portland.  She opted to drive so we could have Nash (her most amazing dog) with us all weekend.  Not only was it SO MUCH FUN to have BOTH my sisters in town, but wow-- what helpers!  Joy and Collin also came down Saturday afternoon and with 6 sets of helping hands -- it was AMAZING what all we accomplished!

Since we completed the dining room we've been busy trying to get floor down in the Guest Room.  Lee finished that up Friday night and even installed the baseboard trim.  The room isn't quite finished -- we still have window trim to polish and install, a closet floor to finish and closet doors to hang.  But, it's definitely functional and looks great.  We're now sleeping in there until next week when we move our mattress yet again.  :)

Even with a late start -- we were so productive on Saturday.  Tasks that were checked off the list this weekend were:

• Cleaned out the Kitchen pantry shelves and lined them (hadn't been used yet) so we could free up the bookshelves that were serving as our pantry
• Cleaned the bookshelves and moved them to the study/music room (completed dining room)
• Unpacked 8 + boxes full of books and got the study looking like a study
• Got in two coats of stain for the window casing  in the three little rooms
  • Our blinds in those rooms were installed on Friday and we LOVE them.  I can't get over just how fabulous they are.
• Painted all the closet baseboard trim
• Painted ALL the hallway baseboard trim
• Removed the glass shower door in the common bathroom and scrubbed the remaining filth away. You can't even hardly tell it was there.  (Lani spent hours on this)
• Hung a new curtain rod
• Ironed and hung a new shower curtain
• Started the process of salvaging the front doorway (Lee's job)
• Tore up 250 sq feet of old hardwood floors (nursery and office and remaining hallway)
• Cut up and prepped for removal the 250 sq feet of old floor boards
• Vacuumed and prepped the sub-floor
• Laid 250 sq feet of Aquabar paper
• Started racking the floor in the nursery and office.
  
  • We didn't get as far as we'd hoped. But, the linen closet and two bedroom closets are racked.  As is the hallway leading to the bedroom doorways.

Needless to say - we were busy this weekend.  I can't imagine the progress we'd make if we had this kind of help every weekend.  It really was amazing. I can't thank them enough.

Saturday night Lani's best friend came down from San Francisco and Lee grilled a mean meal and Ab drummed up a delicious caprese salad with garden tomatoes.  We had a fabulous meal outside on the patio followed by ice cream and a slumber party.  We loved having everyone over.  We were sorry when Joy, Collin and Cordie all had to return to SF Sunday morning.

Sunday was a fairly relaxing day - we only spent an hour or two on the house.  Instead Lani and Abbie got in a LONG run, we made Ebelskivers and moved slowly.  Lani flew out Sunday night but Abbie stayed until Tuesday.  I took Monday off -- and although we worked on racking the floor and painting closet trim, we moved at a slower pace.  We took the night off and picked up Lee from work and headed to the city to meet Joy and Collin for dinner.

We had a great weekend.  I loved having both my sisters in town and we are SO incredibly grateful for everyone's efforts.
