My parents seem to be making a tradition out of coming to visit over Columbus Day weekend.  This year it worked out exceptionally well.  Thursday (October 6) was Lee's last day at his old job and he was able to check out early and go with me to pick my parents up from the airport.  The rains ceased as they landed and started up again as they flew out the following Monday.  But while they were here we had picture perfect weather and a fabulous time!

Thursday night some of my long-time friends came over for dinner to celebrate Lee and catch up with my parents.  We enjoyed having a houseful and it was our last hoorah before we tear apart the kitchen.  (Yes, we are FINALLY at that point!) Friday was our busy day with a late brunch at Mama's and then an afternoon on the Marina Green watching the air show for fleet week.  It was awesome.  I tell you what, seeing the show on Friday is ideal.  The traffic was minimal, lawn space plenty and the show just as good.  We were super impressed with the Canadian Snowbirds and their tricks, the precision of the Blue Angels, and the speed of the Super Hornet.  The Super Hornet was our absolute favorite.  Given the weather conditions and the pilot's ability to stay just shy of the sound barrier, we witnessed the very cool sonic boom cloud.  I guess it's a rare sight and it was awesome.  The pilot maintained it across the width of the bay.  We were so in awe that Lee didn't even pick up his camera to try to get a picture of it. We finished the night out with dinner at Limon.  It was a terrific day.

Saturday was leisurely.  We hung around the house, got in some shopping at the Stanford Mall for my mom and then hit the Stanford vs Colorado game.  Stanford cleaned up and we really enjoyed ourselves.  We wrapped up the night with a visit to the Reams so my parents could meet the couple that saved us the first few months we moved into our house.  Sunday was even more leisurely than days previous.  We went to the first hour of church, successfully attempted a Costa Rican breakfast favorite of my dad's, hung out in the back yard, went for a walk at Quarry Lakes and then BBQd.  Again, a really great day.  We were sorry to have to drop my parents off at the airport this morning.  We loved having them and the visit went much too quickly.  I'm so glad Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
