The week of June 6 was one rotten week.  I'm pretty sure it's one of our worst weeks ever and to survive through it, we decided at the last minute to head for the hills.  I've ALWAYS wanted to hike Yosemite's Panorama Trail in the spring, and every year when we camp there the road to Glacier Point is still closed.  Well, the roads were plowed, the trail opened and the weather was going to be gorgeous on Saturday.  So, Lee and I recruited a few friends, bought tickets for the bus to Glacier Point and off we went.

We got a late start on Friday night (Lee spoke at a Court of Honor) and then we drove to Sonora (closest place we could find to stay with such short notice) so we could get up early on Saturday to be in the park by 9am.  We took the bus to Glacier Point and enjoyed the incredible views and snapped lots of photos for a good hour before we started down the trail.  We really couldn't have asked for a better day.  Temperatures were high 60's low 70's.  Never too hot or cold, blue skies with high clouds and thunderous waterfalls.  We enjoyed seeing Julie, Joel, Glen and Erika and didn't think about the madness of the week.  We just soaked up the beauty of Yosemite.  It couldn't have been more perfect.  Well, maybe if we could have camped there that night....  Instead, we left the park around 8pm, stopped for dinner in Groveland and made it home by 12:30am.  It made for a pretty exhausting Sunday (since Lee was at church by 7am) but definitely worth it!  We are so fortunate to live so close to one of the most beautiful places on earth!
