The last two Saturdays have been absolutely gorgeous and we have spent both of them outside in our yard.  When we returned from Italy the grass in our yard looked like a jungle and the wheat grass went to my knees.  Our first Saturday back (4/21) I spent ALL morning mowing the lawn.  Never have I had to work so hard!  The mower wouldn't start unless it was tipped backwards and every 3 feet I had to stop, lift up the mower and let it spit out all the grass.  If I didn't, it powered off.  It took forever!  We had lots of weeding, trimming, edging, mowing just to catch up with the yard maintenance basics.  But then, in the afternoon we went shopping for our garden seeds, starters and materials to build another garden bed.

During this last week and yesterday, Lee built us our third and final raised garden bed, we planted all our veggies (tomatoes, peas, beans, carrots, peppers, basil - twice because snails ate the first ones, cucumbers, zucchini and even a cantaloupe!), and we beautified the garden area!  Although we love gardening and love our garden, we haven't loved what it has looked like.  This year we decided to take a few steps to make it a little nicer.  We bought 1 ft square pavers, edging and mulch and built a path around our garden beds.  Not only does it look loads better but we're also hoping we have less weeding to do because of it!
