Our Perfect Wedding Day

June 7, 2008 was absolutely fabulous. It actually was a perfect day. The rains held off, it was surprisingly mellow and relaxing, our photographers were incredible, our cake was delicious and dinner with our server Jack was super tasty and a lot of fun. We couldn't have asked for more.

If we could have managed to keep the small-intimate nature of the event while still having everyone there that we love -- we would have. But since that really wasn't an option for us -- here's a recap of our perfect wedding day.

Lee and I chose to be married in the Mormon Temple just outside of Portland, Oregon. We were fortunate to be married by a friend of one of our very good friends in Palo Alto. The ceremony was brief but beautiful.- the officiator's words were kind, loving and encouraging. One thing he said was for Lee to never let go of my hand... he's doing pretty well with that one.

Once married we exited the temple with some pretty huge smiles to join our friends and family. Everyone looked fabulous and we spent the next few hours taking lots and lots of pictures. We were SO incredibly lucky that the Portland skies chose to save rain for a different afternoon. It was still overcast -- but no rain. The gray skies actually made for some incredible pictures. We were really lucky in that our photographer, Robbie, brought a friend with him and we have two fabulous photographers taking pictures for us. We took the majority of pictures on the Portland temple grounds and had a really good time. The remainder of the pictures were taken on the "Park Blocks" in Portland outside our restaurant.

Dinner was at Park Kitchen. It is definitely a Portland style restaurant as everything is grown locally and the menu only includes food that is in season. But most importantly, it was DELICIOUS! Over the last few months as we arranged dinner at Park Kitchen, picked our menu, etc we got to be chummy with Park Kitchen's private dining coordinator -- Jack. And lucky for us -- Jack arranged his schedule to be our server that night. He was fantastic. Full of personality and the creator of a fun drink he aptly named the 678. He definitely added to the "perfectness" of the day.

During the course of dinner (we actually got to eat -- yay for small weddings) my parents and my sisters toasted us. Some of which was a bit embarrassing (as expected) but most of it was just really, really sweet. We've got some incredible families.

Of course we had a traditional cake cutting -- it was a shame to cut our perfectly beautiful cake -- but boy was it good! Dark chocolate cake with peanut butter chocolate frosting as filling on one layer and white chocolate cake with strawberry filling in the other. YUM! Lee was nice to me -- didn't get it all over my face. BUT he did require full, BIG bites that had us nearly choking... Still, better than wearing chocolate cake all night.

Once the festivities wrapped up our friends and family waited outside Park Kitchen for us to send us on our way. The creative people that they are -- they even turned the rose petals from the centerpieces into petals to throw in the air as we walked out. So cute.

Our day was absolutely perfect. We were so grateful to have our families there with us and for their incredible love and support. Now it's on to a summer of more celebrations!
