My parents come to visit

When we purchased our season tickets for Stanford football (back in February), my parents claimed the extra tickets for the Oregon game.  Who knew it was going to be THE game of the season?  My parents (along with tons of other Duck fans) flew in the night before the game and then stayed for nearly a week.   We loved it.

Lee and I both had to work the days they were here, but my parents found plenty to do.  The day of the game they came over to Palo Alto for lunch and a bit of shopping.   Turns out Amanda was in the area around lunch and she and Sierra joined us too.  It was perfect.   After work we walked over to the stadium and the energy was palpable.  So many fans from both sides and the stadium was just off the charts psyched.   The game was pretty unbelievable.  I admit that I was a doubting fan and didn't expect them to win (don't think that was too unreasonable given their history), but they proved me wrong.  The fact that we held Oregon to 0 until the fourth quarter was totally unexpected.  It was an awesome game.  We had a great time and my parents were good sports.    That night we even went home and made reservations in SoCal on the chance that Stanford would make it to the Rose Bowl.  Unfortunately for us, Stanford blew that chance last week when they lost to USC.

The rest of the time with my parents was pretty chill.  They tackled a few computer projects they brought with them and we had lots of good meals.  We went out to a lovely dinner with Nick and Erika one night (my mom really wanted to meet him).  We made a couple of delicious dinners.  And we met Joy & Collin in Rockridge for Zacharay's pizza one night.  I'm really glad they came to visit and stayed longer than the weekend.  Lee had to travel for a work conference for a few days while my parents were here and I loved having their company.  I'm so glad they came.  We've been fortunate to see lots of each other this year!
