Legoland!

Legoland Adventures Lee's brother and his family spent several days of the last week in San Diego for a trade show.  When Legoland was on the agenda, we decided we better go down and join them! Lee's family was committed to the Legoland hotel so we booked a suite that would sleep all of us. The kids LOVED it.  The room had lots of Lego structures, the halls were decorated and everything had a theme.  It was a kid's paradise.

Not so much for the adults...  the walls were uber thin and the pull out couch.... well let's just say our thermarests are far more comfortable! But, the kids thought it was worth it and the proximity to Legoland was pretty ideal.  If you were interested in staying, I'd recommend the "adventure" themed rooms as they are on the top floor.

Saturday was our dedicated Legoland day.  By staying at the hotel you get slightly early admission and we went on a couple of rides that would have been far harder with longer lines. The kids had spent the previous day at Legoland before we had arrived and had scoped out their favorite rides - so we made good use of our day.

The most impressive aspect of Legoland for us were the Lego structures dotting the park -- full sized giraffes, elephants, people, and mini replicas of cities across the United States.  They were really cool!  The best part of Legoland though was being there with kids who thought it was AMAZING!  They were so happy to be there and had so much fun on the rides.  We were glad we were able to experience it with them.

Sunday morning we checked out of the hotel and headed down to Coronado.  Lee's family had some business to attend to so we were separated for a few hours.  We spent that time enjoying the perfectly pleasant day on the beach.

The kids joined us later that afternoon and spent hours hunting for sand dollars - and were successful!  They found some of the smallest sand dollars we have ever seen and Kate even found a black one -- very very cool.   The afternoon passed far too quickly.  We found a nearby restaurant where we ate dinner together before we had to leave family and fun and go back to work.

The weekend flew by and we had such a great time!  Pictures are here.

This is great information for us! We are hoping to go to Legoland later this year and had wondered if the Legoland Hotel was worth the expense. I'm sure my kids would be in heaven if we stayed there!
