Morning Trot along the Thames Just 10 days after returning from our week in Sun River, I boarded a plane for Oxford. I had the opportunity to return to the Skoll World Forum. With the effort I have spent on co-leading a significant technology development project at Skoll over the last 18 months, I was grateful for the opportunity to be present when it was introduced to our community. Lee didn't join me during or after this forum. We knew it was the right decision but when everyone was leaving Oxford for envious destinations I was wishing we were among them.
This year the weather was damp and chilly which made for some muddy runs along the Thames - but it's one of my favorite places to run. Running actually doesn't seem so bad when you are amidst the cows and watching teams row across the Thames. Other highlights included dining with a quarter of the other delegates at Christ Church College, a.k.a. Hogwarts Dining Hall. I had eaten there my first forum in 2010 and was thrilled to be back! It was the most coveted of dinner venues. Christ Church Dining Hall
But more enjoyable than the trails and the colleges was the actual forum. This may have been my favorite forum and I returned home more motivated and inspired than ever. The opening and closing plenaries were phenomenal. I was moved to tears multiple times by young women and men who have thrived despite their circumstances and are now among those fighting to make the world a better place. I'm very fortunate to be part of this incredible community.
Christ Church I didn't take many pictures (Oxford is starting to feel familiar) but the ones I did take are here. Here's to hoping I get to go again next year!
