Last Wednesday, on July 16, Lee and I celebrated our marriage with our friends in California. The event was held outside in the gardens of the Rengstorff House. It was absolutely beautiful (although a bit chilly after the sun went down) and was a very enjoyable evening.

Life was a little hectic the week before the event as we pulled together the final touches and baked like crazy! I made over 300 Melt-Aways and Lee made just as many Snickerdoodles. Fortunately only the Melt-Aways required frosting -- many thanks to Caisa for her help with that. We also hired a friend of ours who is an EXCELLENT baker to whip up her amazing chocolate truffle cookies and to make Ayrowyn Kay's famous Seven Layer Bars. There was NO shortage of treats. Lee's boss was also spectacular and prepped all the strawberries for us.

The night of the reception we had SO much help from our friends. The night truly wouldn't have been the success that it was were it not for our fabulous friends. They helped set up, helped keep things flowing during the event and helped with the take down. They were amazing. We are so blessed to have the friends that we do!

It was so much fun to see so many of our friends come to celebrate this big event in our lives. We were really impressed with the number of past and present colleagues who joined us. If only we could have spent more time with each of them.

One notable fact to highlight was the presence of a skunk or two who wanted to join in on the fun. They apparently were taken by the smell of the delicious desserts and made their way to the dessert table in the gardens -- pawing at the tablecloths in hopes of being fortunate to steal a cookie or two. We had a couple of brave souls who tossed a few cookies in the direction of the skunks to distract them long enough for us to clean up without any casualties.

We had a fabulous night. Thank you to the friends who were able to join us.
