Our fabulous friend Jason Larsen got married this last weekend in Austin, Texas. We had been looking forward to this weekend since late this summer when we heard the great news he was engaged! Our great crew of friends flew in from California and Utah to join the celebration. We had grand plans of exploring Texas during our three days there, but our health (or lack there of) had different plans. I brought home a NASTY cold virus from Utah that had me laid out all week working from home and up all night coughing up my lungs. I coughed so hard I popped blood vessels in my eye. I had hoped it would be gone by the weekend, but no such luck. Lee and I are still fighting it 10 days later. But, back to the wedding...
On Friday we ventured out of the hotel room for brunch at Magnolia's Cafe in Austin and
then made our way to New Braunfels for the pre-wedding dinner. Dinner was outside at a great ranch style house and was delicious - Texas BBQ with the most amazing ribs! I then spent the night hacking up my lungs - which made for a slow start the next day. We got up and out of the hotel just in time to have a delicious breakfast at the Red Rooster in downtown New Braunfels before driving to the San Antonio Temple for the wedding ceremony. The temple was beautiful! We had wished we had felt better so we could have come beforehand to do a session.
The reception that night was at a cool rustic venue in Kyle, Texas. But, before heading to the reception we stopped at the world's biggest outlet mall. Lee and i added to our Emile Henrie collection (courtesy of the Williams-Sonoma outlet) and FINALLY got the Le Creuset pot/dutch oven we've wanted since we got married! And despite the cell phone outage we still managed to find our way to the reception site on time! We enjoyed a lovely evening with good food and friends and sent Jason on Heather on their way. We're so excited for them!

Sunday's activities included yet another breakfast at another tasty spot - this time it was at South Congress Cafe in Austin. We dined, drove around the capital and UT campus and then headed to the airport.
We truly wish we had both felt better and had more energy and enthusiasm to explore and see Austin and San Antonio. But, we are so glad we made the trip. It was such a privilege to be there for Jason and to see our great friends - especially Caisa, Adrian and Beckley. We miss them now that they've moved to Utah!
