House Update #? (I lost count)

Nearly a month has passed since we've posted a progress report of our remodeling efforts.  We've been awfully hard at work the last several weekends and at night after work.  We did a quick estimate and we think we probably put in 30 - 40 total man hours over the weekend into the house, plus several nights during the week for at least another 10 -15 hours of work.  Fixing up our house is a full time job.  So, what have we accomplished since Lee's grandparents came to visit?

  • Painted the officePainted Office
  • Painted and hung the office closet door
  • Painted the dining room
  • Reinstalled dining room window trim and hung curtains
    The dining room
  • Sanded the ceilings in the future nursery and guest roomPrepping the Nursery for Paint
  • Spackled the ceilings and walls in the nursery and guest room
  • Sanded the ceilings (again) and walls in the nursery and guest room
  • Sanded (for minimum of 6 grueling hours) the HORRIBLY textured walls in the bathroom.  (note - the texture was so rough and coarse and raised- that it would nearly cut us when we ran our hands over it)
  • Textured the ceilings in the nursery and guest room
  • Patched a hole in one of the nursery walls
  • Painted the guest room closet
  • Painted the guest room closet doors
  • Primed the nursery closet doors
  • Primed the nursery and guest room walls and ceilings
  • Painted three of the four walls in both the nursery and guest room (the fourth walls are on hold until after we get our windows installed)The Guest Room
  • Installed new bathroom lights
  • Installed new faucet fixtures for the two sinks in the common bathroomOur Green Corner in the Bathroom
  • Painted the bathroom

  • Started tearing out the hardwood in the dining room (We are getting SOOOO excited to lay the new wood.  We can't wait for our windows to be installed so we can get to the floor!) Tearing up the Old Hardwood

Needless to say - we've been BUSY.  We've also been quite fortunate to have extra help the last two weekends.

The Saturday of the 4th of July our friends Jon and Cami Felt brought over their cutest baby boy and worked awfully hard on prepping the rooms for painting.  They sanded and spackled and made it possible for us to prime it all on Monday the 5th.  We wouldn't have gotten nearly as far without them.

And yesterday, Joy and Collin came down and painted up a storm! We painted nearly everything we had hoped to.  All that is undone is the nursery ceiling, a little trim work and to paint the nursery closet doors.  Not bad for a month's work.  Once the windows are in, we'll lay the floors and trim and then we will be able to MOVE IN to three more rooms.  I am beyond excited about that.
