Vogelsang and Fletcher Lake We barely got breakfast on our last day. Unbeknown to us, the folks at Vogelsang moved Hot Drinks from 7 – 7:30am to Hot Drinks ending shortly after it started and moved right on into breakfast. The oatmeal was gone by 7:32am when we arrived! Fortunately we got there as the main meal was being served, which was actually pretty good: veggie frittata with tomatoes, capers and bean sprouts accompanied by bacon and yummy chocolate chip pancake muffins.
Hike out along Rafferty Creek With it being our last day we took our time getting on the trail. It was another gorgeous morning and the reflections of Vogelsang in the lake were spectacular. Our hike out was along Raffertry Creeek and mostly downhill for 7 - 7.5 miles until we reached Tuolomne Meadow. The prettiest views of the day were early on as we crossed the meadow. We had hoped we'd see a bear from the distance but never did. We were entertained though by a couple of fat marmots chomping away on horse manure like they were apples. Despite their preference for horse poop, they really are cute little critters.
Loop Completed! All but the last mile went fairly quickly and we arrived at the meadow 1pm. After six beautiful, cloud free days we weren't ready to return to reality. We delayed things a bit by stopping at Tenya Lake for that swim we had wanted a few days prior. It was the perfect end to a perfect week. We soaked our feet, rinsed off the layers of dust and regretfully headed home.
Pictures of last day are here.
