Lee and I aren't really the Vegas types - but when U2 announced their tour schedule we decided we just had to go! The day the tickets went on sale (April) we were both in conferences and we asked my dad to purchase them for us on our behalf. We totally benefited from that deal. If Lee and I had been in charge, we would have purchased the cheap seats way out yonder. But my parents decided to upgrade us to some pretty fabulous seats and surprised us with early birthday and anniversary gifts. We've been excitedly waiting for this weekend to come the last six months!

We flew in on Friday and battled some of the most horrific traffic we've ever been in to get to the UNLV Stadium for the show. It took 90 minutes to go 9 miles! We BARELY made it in time for the opening act -- which we did not want to miss given it was The Black Eyed Peas. What a great way to kick off the night. We were pretty stoked with
our seats and their orientation to the stage. We loved the opportunity to gawk at its complexity all night. The stage really was incredible. It takes six days to assemble and is absolutely unbelievable. The sound was fantastic and the screen (probably the world's largest most complex jumbo tron) was a really fantastic way to see the boys up close and personal. Not to mention the crazy light shows --- It was awesome! Thank you mom and dad!!!
Saturday was a pretty kick back day. We wandered along the strip on our way to pick up our tickets for LOVE. It's the Cirque du Soleil at the Mirage and is all about the Beatles. And I LOVE the Beatles. Growing up the only music we knew existed was that of the Beatles, Motown and Carol King. So going to LOVE was something I was REALLY looking forward to. We had fun taking pictures that afternoon while the crowds were small. When we came back later that night for the show - the place was PACKED. The show was fantastic. I didn't want it to end - there were so many more songs I wanted to hear! The stage for Love was also pretty incredible. I couldn't believe the logistics and what kept coming up from the floor and down from the ceiling. It was another fabulous night.

Saturday afternoon Lee lost his cell phone to The Roller Coaster at New York, New York. We thought it was securely snapped in his shorts pocket - but the force of that coaster was just too much. Tells you what a great ride that roller coaster is. But unfortunately, it looks like we'll be buying another phone. The question is, will Lee end up purchasing his first Apple product ever?
Before flying out on Sunday afternoon we decided we wanted to go to church. We intentionally picked a ward that I knew one of my friends from BYU attended. During my days as an Econ major at BYU I spent ALL of my time studying and in class with Cody and Mike. Their girlfriends at the time (wives now) joked that I spent more time with them than they did. They helped me survive econ. We all went our separate ways after graudation and I haven't seen them since. Well - Sunday I was able to see Cody and his wife Jana when we attended their ward. The visit was short but it was really fun to be able to see them after all these years. Hopefully we can stay in better touch over the next 10 years. It really was a treat to be able to see them and the perfect finish to a really fantastic weekend!
Pictures of our weekend are here!
